Welcome! I’m so happy to see you!
Hi, I’m Sarah Wimberley, a full-time blogger/ Instagrammer sharing my life of DIY and renovation projects.
My husband and I began our first renovation project of a 1950s Workers Cottage in the Brisbane suburb of Keperra in 2013. What started as a quick cosmetic lift, with paint and new architraves, soon turned into a big project when we replaced our kitchen and bathroom. Have you heard the story of our kitchen demolition? It’s one of my favorites to tell.
Fast forward a year, and with the arrival of our first child, Maia, also came the purchase of land in Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast. We held it for a while, then eventually built our dream home in 2018. It was completed two weeks after Elliot, our second child was born.
Like most people who build, we stretched our money as far as we could, which meant that while our new house was beautiful it was also very empty, with no sign of our own personalities. Throw in our third child, Noah, and finances for renovations were tight. Our yard stayed as a mud pit for three years (which the kids LOVED) and around the house we squeezed every penny to turn our house into our home.
Along the way I have learned (usually the hard way) about construction, design, and home maintenance. This blog exists to help you navigate your own projects and boost your confidence in tackling your own DIY dreams. Imagine me as that loud friend cheering you on from the sidelines. You’ve got this!
A house is made of brick and mortar, but home is made by the people who live there.
